CPL 2.0 Google

Google Universe - April 22

Is there anything that you can not access on Google?

It is definitely a fast way of searching and has so many options and products!
I have looked at maps and google earth many times and find that maps is very useful and so quick, and google earth is fun and amazing!
I often go to Google first before I try any other search site.

With this weeks exercise I did explore several of the products, I had not tried clicking 'even more' before and was surprised at all the choices, this was also, the first time that I looked at 'labs'.

I was impressed with the 'Books' product as this is an excellent search site for book titles and reviews, it also, quickly links you to similar titles and information about the author including current author readings, interviews, etc. It links to 'where to buy' sites and libraries, including CPL. It has an extensive subject listing , is user friendly and very quick.

I was not impressed with the 'Aardvark product'.
This site encourages you to ask any question and promises to find the answer within seconds.
However, I tried it several times today and each time it responded with an application for facebook and announced , " before we answer your question- join us on facebook". It did not allow you to skip this or over ride the facebook application - therefore, it did not answer your question - very surprised and disappointed in this.

All in all, it has been interesting and fun to spend time exploring all the extra features on google that I had not looked at before.

CPL 2.0 Networking

April 19
Social networking sites - popular?

Yes I can understand the fascination and passion for facebook and other networking sites.
It is an easy and fabulous way to keep in touch with many people at the same time. It can be used efficiently to instantly reach many people regarding important dates, travel plans, invitations , business plans, etc,.
It can also, just be a party online conversing with all your friends at once.
Used properly it can be a lot of fun and a time saver for passing on information quickly to everyone.
On the downside it can also be addictive and a time waster and your privacy can be jeopardized.
Be careful what you say out there!

For myself ,
I set up a test facebook account.
I took note of the wall, the profile, the Account, theFind Friends, the Info, etc.
I am not interested in having a current facebook account at this time.

CPL 2.0

April 8th -Wikipedia

I easily found articles that one was able to edit.
I tried to edit a biographical article on Mary Pickford. I added one sentence that referred to her name change. Because I added this sentence directly after a reference mark it was saved at the bottom of the article- at the top of the list of references rather than in the article itself.
I will check tomorrow and see if it is still there although I doubt it will be, therefore I printed it for myself today!
Will try to edit something again when I have more time as it could be fun.

What did I learn by reading the Wikipedia information:
I am impressed by how current the information is and that they are continually updating even within seconds. Therefore, editing or making additions which contain misinformation , etc. are quickly removed. They have strict editing policies. It appears to be easy to edit and save, I did not know that this was possible before.

CPL 2.0 Delicious

April 1
Best Websites,
after browsing these sites several times this week , I have definitely become more comfortable.
Initially, I found delicious to be busy and cumbersome and I rarely found anything quickly.
However, I now understand the layout , index and sorting option better than before, although
I will need to use it frequently to become truly trusting and confident with it.

I, also, learned the difference between a folder and a tag this week.
